The Department of Economics of Raniganj Girls College was established in 1980 with the principle request for knowledge�. Under the Choice Based Credit System curricula of Kazi Nazrul University, the department offers a six-semester pattern of study in Honours and Programme courses at the undergraduate level.

The endeavour of the department since its inception has always been to

3. empower the student sthrough knowledge acquisition
4. promote holistic development of the learners personality.

Apart fromcurriculum delivery, the department in its humble capacity is engaged inextra-curricular activities like organizing seminars, screening films anddocumentaries, publication of Departmental Wall Magazine "Spot Light", arrangingEducational tours and the like. The department proactively encourages thelearners to participate in other co-curricularactivities which lead toall-inclusive and comprehensive growth of the students personality.

The students studying Economics also have easy access to the seminar library of the department. Itcomprises of a small yet modest collection of Economics books donated by theteachers of the department.

The closerapport between the students and the teachers has helped to build a pleasantlearning ambience in the department.
