Message From Principal

I am happy to share a few words with you about our own institution "Raniganj Girls' College". Raniganj girls ' college was established on 9th november 1980 on 6.258 acres of land donated by the raja of Searsole, Raniganj, to meet the growing need of the college meant exclusively for the girls of the colliery belt keeping in mind the cosmopolitan demography of the region.

At the time of inception the college carried out its academic enterprise at the campus of Gandhi Memorial Girls' High School and later moved for a short period to the premises of Jamunamoyee Girls' High School. Finally, in May 1983, itmoved to its present campus at Searsole.
Our objective is to enlighten the girl students from socially and economically backward sections of the society and inculcate secular and humanitarian valuesamong them. Our mission has always been to maintain the optimum standard in imparting education. Though we are always conscious of the quality of educationprovided to the students, we also stress upon the need to develop all round faculties of the students including promotion of extracurricular, cultural andsporting abilities . Students are nurtured in such a way during their course that they develop a strong sense of self esteem as well as a sense of respectfor the fellow citizens. In 1980 the journey began with eight subjects from humanities having 11 students. Now our college offers undergraduate courses inall four streams i.e. Arts, science, commerce and performing arts with Honoursin twenty three subjects including classical vocal and Nazrul Geeti. We have also introduced general courses in Nutrition, Santali, Sociology, education and physical education. Our college has introduced few short term certificates courses for facilitating scope for self employment for the student of average merit.

Post graduate course in Urdu is also running successfully in the college. Post graduate courses in Zoology and Santali are also likely to start soon.

To relieve the students of the monotony of academic activities there is a students' common room equipped with functioning facilities for indoor games.The college canteen meets the requirement of the students and the staff for daily refreshment. The college hostel currently accommodates 36 boarders. Construction on the first floor of the existing hostel is on the top priority list to meet the tremendous demand on the part of the students for accommodation.

The college has national cadet corps (NCC) unit affiliated to 5 Bengal Battalion.The process of recruitment of new cadets begins just after admission. Our national cadres perform excellently at state as well as national level. Our teachers and students of NSS and NCC participate in the republic day parade in the Rajpath.

The NSS has undertaken the tasks of beautifying the campus and ensuring all round development of two adjacent adopted villages. The NSS team of our college works for comprehensive social upliftment through various awareness programme.
