Nazrul Sangeet is aunique genre of modern Bengali music comprising the body of lyrical and musicalcompositions of Kazi Nazrul Islam – a great poet of Bengal – after whom ouraffiliating university is named. Formal courses in Nazrul Sangeet are rarelyoffered at the undergraduate level in a university. Our college is perhaps theonly institution in West Bengal which can boast of offering a full lengthgraduate program leading to BA Honours in Nazrul Sangeet. The year 2017 marksthe inception of this department with one teacher. Since then the departmenthas gradually developed and the department envisages that the studentsgraduating from the department will establish themselves successfully as professionalperformers and independent teachers.
