Department of Psychology

“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things.” - Jean Piaget The Department of Psychology started functioning from the academic session 2017-2018. The Department offers an undergraduate BSc Honours course in Psychology under the CBCS framework.The Department combines theoretical lessons with practical knowledge based education system to make the students equipped with the ideas of human psychology. Academic and personal counselling of students is also carried out from time-to-time depending on the needs and problems of the individual student. Over the past three years the Department has tried to address some prevalent psychological issues identified in students like absenteeism, fear of approaching teachers, lack of interaction with classmates, improper behavior in the classroom and so on.Efforts are always made to interact with the students on a one-to-one basis and to help them to cope with their problems in a healthy way. The department aims at providing a well designed course on human psychology involving both theoretical and practical lessons, so that students can apply this knowledge to get a job in sectors like Clinical Guidance &Counselling, Health, Rehabilitation, Correctional, Industrial &Organizational, Neuro-psychology and Cognitive Science.
